With another racing season behind us, it’s time to celebrate the season that was 2021/22. We are proud of not only our success on the track, but also our growth off it, as we look to continue our investment in the emergence of our growing stable.
The 2021/22 racing season saw us achieve a record winning strike rate of 20%, thanks to our 6 winners from 30 runners. In addition to our winners, we had another 6 gallopers finish in the placings, which saw our Top 3 strike-rate finish the year at another record of 40% (being 12 of our 30 runners).
We achieved metro success on 3 occasions, with LADY SOLLY claiming two 955m Challenges at The Valley, and KEV’S GIRL claiming one. We are were also able to saddle up our first black-type runner, with LADY SOLLY putting in a brave effort on a heavy track in the Wangoom Handicap.
Total earnings for our runners was just shy of the $200,000 mark and whilst this was down by approximately $60,000 on the previous season, we were able to earn this amount throughout 2021/22 whilst having 27 less runners than 2020/21.
Most excitingly is the emergence and addition of several youngsters, with lightly raced horses such as KEV’S GIRL, DUHLATA, RICH PARIS, TEQUILA STORM, AKEED’S GIRL, PENNY and STAN TOUGH set to lead the charge in the years to come. We were also able to secure an impressive OVERSHARE x SWEET TALK colt at the Magic Millions Adelaide sale for $80,000 and are excited to see his progress.
Racing statistics aside, the growth of our stable off track continues to be extremely important to those of us in the team, and this is highlighted by our investment in our facilities. This has been done with the view towards long-term success and giving our horses the best possible environment to thrive in. Over the past 12 months we have been able to build an uphill sand track, new boxes and install lighting in the stables.
