Retired Horses

Glenferrie Girl

(Danerich x Lindy) 33 starts - 4 wins - 12 placings $152,500 prizemoney

Purchased for just $34,000 at the 2018 Melbourne Inglis Gold Sale, Glenferrie Girl (affectionately known as “Flossy”) will always be remembered fondly by our stable and those who were involved with her. She was a tough, honest and consistent race mare who finished in the Top 3 in 16 of her 33 career starts!

Alongside four victories, she amassed $152,500 in prizemoney, kick-started by the day she broke her maiden at the 2019 Dunkeld Races. She was successfully backed in to an even-money favourite and spurred on by the roar of the crowd – it was a day we will never forget! She also loved racing in the BM70 Sprint race at Warrnambool on Jericho Cup Day, recording a hat-trick of placings between 2020-2022. Just prior to her retirement she went awfully close to recording a city win, finishing second by a nose in a heat of the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge at Moonee Valley.

She will now be moving to Coronet Bay to begin the next phase of her life as a broodmare and we look forward to staying in touch!

Lady Solly

(O'Lohnro x Recession Buster) 33 starts - 8 wins - 10 placings (as at 01/04/2023) $350,430 prizemoney

With AJ Chambers Racing: 18 starts - 5 wins - 4 placings $237,750 prizemoney

Arriving in Grassmere for a change of scenery after 15 career starts, Lady Solly was a horse that helped put our stable’s name up in lights. She was a tough, consistent and, at times, feisty mare that loved racing at Moonee Valley and spending time at the beach.

All five of her victories with us were recorded at Moonee Valley, qualifying her for consecutive Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Finals in 2022 & 2023. She was also our first ever starter in a black-type race, running in the 2022 Wangoom Handicap at the May Racing Carnival. We were truly lucky to have had the opportunity to train Solly and thank both Chris Guthrie and Jacque Hogan for their support.

Solly is now spending time with trainer Scott McIntosh in Wangaratta and will become a mum at some stage in the future. Excitingly, we purchased her half-brother at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and are looking forward to watching him grow!

Tough Vic

(Tough Speed x Vickers)

61 starts - 10 wins - 12 placings

$188,969 prizemoney

Vic started his career down in Tasmania with trainer Charlie Goggin, breaking his maiden at start number 6 before going on to run in the Tassie Guineas, Hobart Guineas and Tassie Derby. He came over to Victoria to be trained by Darren Weir, but only lasted a few starts with him before being purchased by James McNamara at an Inglis sale for tried racehorses for just $7,500.

Throughout his time with both James and AJ Chambers Racing, Vic was known as a really unique character, who was very quiet and unassuming but when he got into a battle on the racetrack, he was tough as nails. Across the 41 starts that he had between James & Adam, he finished with a record of 8 wins and 10 placings.

Vic will now head off to join James’ son Brad, and his partner Emma, in Cootamundra where he is going to live out his life as a show jumper. It’s great that Vic can have the next step after his racing career and is going somewhere that he will get extremely well looked after.

Blacktein

(Turffontein x Dol de Lago) 32 starts - 6 wins - 7 placings $88,860 prizemoney

After spending the early part of her career with estemeed South Australian trainer Ricky Bruhn, Blacktein made her way over to Adam where she was supported by a great group of loyal owners.

Adam had her racing consistently from the outset, with her first 4 race results reading 3rd, 3rd, 2nd and then 1st. During her career she spent most of her time with a rating in the high 60’s/low 70’s contesting strong races including a start at a mid-week meeting in town.

She is now plying her trade as a broodmare, living a great life in the paddocks of Grassmere. She has produced 3 foals so far, with the oldest being a now 2YO filly by Danerich.

Grassemere Miss

(Atomic x Moxie's Jewel) 27 starts - 3 wins - 10 placings $61,420 prizemoney

The Miss, or Sass as she was better known, is a horse that the Chambers family are very proud of. She was bred at home.

Throughout her racing career, she built up a profile that was based on her toughness and honesty. She very rarely ran a bad race, and was able to sustain consistent performances throughout each preparation.
